Chelsea decide on very kind gesture for Ryan Mason after early retirement

Chelsea has called on Hull’s Ryan Mason to come watch one of their matches after he announced his retirement earlier this week. His decision to leave the football world was due to a fractured skull injury he sustained while playing with the Blues.

His injury was from an accidental clash of heads with Blues Gary Cahill 13 months ago but midfielder, Mason after surgery has been advised medically to back out of football.

The horrid incidence took placed in January 2017 when he was carried out of the stadium with an oxygen support as this was witnessed by parents of the injured player who accompanied him to St Mary hospital.

Hull travel back to Stamford Bridge to battle the fifth round tie in the FA Cup on Friday without the 26 year-old midfielder.

Cahill, who was involved in the incident with Mason, has expressed his sentiments through an emotional message of devastation about Mason’s forceful exit out of football, but the Chelsea defender’s name is still being considered part of the first team on Conte’s side the game against Hull City. Although has been encouraged by the Italian to overcome his guilty as such incidence always occur on the pitch and focus on upcoming games.

“I think it’s okay. When you play and your behavior is always with great honesty: we are talking about a top player, no? For his commitment, his behavior during, before and after the game.

This type of situation can happen. I was a player and I understand it. I broke my leg. My team-mate broke my leg when I was 16, and risked my whole career, but it was an unlucky situation. I repeat: Gary is a fantastic guy, a fantastic person. He must be okay because it’s not his fault. In the same injury, if you remember, Cahill did a lot for his integrity. We are very sad for this news. But football is this. You have to try and accept also these bad situations. They can happen.”
