Callum Hudson-Odoi’s rise continues with star turn after Barcelona benching

Callum Hudson Odoi has just come off the pitch in Chelsea’s UEFA Youth league victory against Feyenoord, and the youngster was as exceptional as you’d expect. Ignoring the fact that he should have scored a couple of goals, the trickster was impossible for his inexperienced opposition to handle.

But while the 17 year old has been doing that for a while, it was last night that surprising progress was made, with CHO named on the subs bench for the biggest game of the season so far against Barcelona.

That’s just the latest example of his increasing importance to the team. Since coming on against Bournemouth he’s really made himself a proper first team squad member, and he’s now started a game as well as coming on regularly.

He was never likely to feature last night, with two big names in Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata on the bench, but the fact he was there at all is what matters. The future is very bright for this kid.
