Second January departure imminent as Chelsea will have final say on future of forgotten player

Chelsea are almost close to sealing the deal for AS Roma defender Emerson Palmieri and that has forced at least one player out of the club until next season and now another left sided player may follow.

According to reports in Germany, Abdul Baba Rahman has emerged a priority signing for Bundesliga side Schalke 04 despite his long absence from football.

The Ghana international picked up a serious ligament tear in January 2017, during his participation in the African Cup of Nations in Gabon. He has since cut short his loan spell in Germany, returned to Chelsea and yet to regain full fitness.

His absence has meant the Blues have been eyeing replacements in the position and the likes of Alex Sandro and Palmieri have been linked although the move for the latter, is almost complete per reports on Tuesday.

And now according to reports by Ghana football website, GhanaSoccerNet, Schalke chief Christian Heidel who watched the left full back in Chelsea’s reserve game is hoping the Blues can make a quick decision.

“Getting Baba depends a bit on Chelsea, maybe they want to make something else in the transfer market. We do not have the pressure like he has to play tomorrow, so we are waiting quietly.”
