But football is a fickle game, and the course of 2018 for Chelsea so far has lead everyone to one conclusion: if he’s fit, he has to start against Brighton this weekend.
The 24 year old who’s been out for nigh on 8 months and is taking a big step to a new club, has to start for the first team of his new club. There’s no time to settle in Ross, the first team is suffering and you’re being pushed into the front line to save a team that looks devoid of ideas, especially in midfield.
It’s not the best situation for the club to find itself in, but for Ross, it’s the perfect opportunity.
