What move for Chelsea striker tells you about how real the Andy Carroll transfer is

Michy Batshuayi is close to moving to Sevilla on loan, which could have serious repercussions for Chelsea’s striker situation.

ESPN are among the sources reporting that the forward is on the verge of completing a move to Spain, and it’s hard to imagine that Chelsea would let their second choice striker go without having secured a backup.

Given how close the sources indicate the deal is between the Belgian and the Andalusian club, we can take it that Chelsea’s moves for a replacement are pretty advanced. Unfortunately, the only rumours doing the rounds at the moment are to do with West Ham’s forward Andy Carroll.

Unless something appears out of the ether, much like the Davide Zappacosta deal did on the last day of the summer transfer window, it looks like Blues fans might have to settle for Carroll for now.

The question is, in that case, would they rather keep Batshuayi after all?
