“I’m the coach. I decide” – Antonio Conte declares himself nonchalant about Chelsea players’ emotions

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has astonishingly declared himself nonchalant about his emotions of his players amid talks of Eden Hazard growing unhappy.

Several of the Chelsea key players have had turns on the bench for prolonged periods under Conte since he took charge of the club in 2016.

David Luiz and Michy Batshuayi are enjoying their spectating assignments these days, but before them, Willian and Pedro has switched roles in the past. Even Marcos Alonso who now looks a key cog in the Chelsea setup endured a some prolonged time on the bench.

The Italian manager seemed direct in his speech when asked if he cared about the emotions of his players and also how forward Eden Hazard was constantly withdrawn in games in recent times.

His answer addressed the fact that Hazard had not completed pre-season and was injured for most parts of the first half of the season, before unleashing his anger at thinking about the players who remained unhappy because of his tactical decisions.

“I’m the coach. I decide. It’s not important if one player is happy or not. Only here [in England] is there this situation. You are worried about whether a player is happy or not. My first task is to do the best for the team and the club. Not to make every player happy.

Otherwise we’d risk finishing 20th in the table. There is always this question about whether I’m worried about making my players happy. No. I’m worried to win.”
