“He’s a passenger in this Chelsea side” – Mystery starter slammed by pundits

The Chelsea team-sheet produced some surprises today. Most people though Antonio Conte would switch to a 343 to add some attacking threat to his team, but the Italian stuck with just Hazard and Morata up front.

In midfield however, there were changes. Danny Drinkwater dropped out, and Tiemoue Bakayoko returned to the team. This was pretty surprising given the speed at which the Frenchman’s performances have been declining. He didn’t do much in this game to justify his mysterious selection.

The feelings of most fans and pundits can be summed up in the tweet below:

Never mind the money, how if we’d paid £4m for him it would have seemed excessive.

Amazingly, when Antonio did make changes after 57 minutes, the midfielder stayed on the pitch, meaning he completed 90 minutes despite a dropping yet another wretched performance.

Taking off Hazard, who admittedly was very fatigued, did not go down with Chelsea fans, especially when it meant Bakayoko would finish the game.
