Dire draw proves needs for Chelsea transfers

Chelsea’s need for attacking reinforcements was made clear last night.

The Blues struggled to a draw against Norwich in the FA Cup, and what’s worse, they never really looked like scoring.

This wasn’t a game like some others in the past few months, where Antonio Conte’s men have been battering the oppositions door down but just haven’t been able to squeeze it in. In this game, they hardly had a shot from within the box.

The defence was solid, but the midfield were timid and couldn’t move the ball into the attackers with any regularity.

Willian showed some spark, and created most of his team’s chances, but Michy Batshuayi and Pedro did nothing.

It was a rotated side, but a team like Chelsea should have more threat than that, even in their second string. Ross Barkley may well be the man to connect the dots, and the sooner he’s ready for action the better.
