Chelsea’s winter grind goes on with latest injury

Chelsea added to their issues yesterday half an hour into the game, when captain Gary Cahill, newly restored to the starting lineup, limped off with a hamstring tweak.

It was the last thing that Antonio Conte needed, in a game where Leicester were running riot, but luckily the problem didn’t look too bad. The England international even tried to run it off briefly, before being told in no uncertain terms by the bench that Andreas Christensen was replacing him.

The addition of the ice cold Dane seemed like it would help a Blues side that were totally unable to control the game, constantly losing possession in dangerous areas. While the youngster himself wasn’t particularly at fault, it really didn’t help the team much, who continued to leak chances.

Christensen has unquestionably become the first choice ahead of David Luiz now, could this spell out for Cahill mean the same for Antonio Rudiger?
