Chelsea’s move for target man on the verge of collapse as club can’t agree transfer terms

Chelsea’s transfer plans for Andy Carroll are on the verge of collapsing according to reports in the Evening Standard.

The striker has emerged as a target for the Blues to back up Alvaro Morata, but the issue appears to be that Chelsea only want him on loan, whereas West Ham are looking to offload him permanently. With negotiations at this impasse, it may be that Antonio Conte is forced to look elsewhere for reinforcements.

This news won’t go down badly with all Chelsea fans. Many were unhappy with the prospect of moving for a middling target like Carroll, and think the club should be aiming higher. Carroll has only started eight games this season and scored twice, and it was a real shock when rumours about interest from the Champions in the forward became clear.

West Ham are also trying to get rid of their other strikers Javier Hernandez and Diafra Sakho. It’s not known whether Chelsea are interested in them either.
