Chelsea have tied Andreas Christensen to a new contract that keeps him at the club until 2022.
Very few individuals may have predicted the season Christensen is having at Chelsea currently with several top stars available for selection to Antonio Conte.
The young center back arrived from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer, having spent the last two years on loan at the German Bundesliga club. His dazzling displays for Monchengladbach attracted interest from clubs across the continent but Chelsea decided to welcome him back at the club.
Facing the already established Gary Cahill, Cesar Azoilicueta and David Luiz, and also the signing of Antonio Rudiger from AS Roma, the scripts were clear, Christensen would struggle for a place in Conte’s side but he rewrote the scripts and has been one of the regular fixtures at Chelsea this season.
Having completed the signing of the new deal, the Denmark international expressed his excitement at his development at the club this campaign.
“It feels really good to sign a new contract and I’m just happy to be committed to Chelsea for the future. I’ve played a lot of games, I’m enjoying it at the club and everything is working well.”
