Chelsea shockingly turn to former Liverpool target man as new striker target this month

Chelsea have targeted Stoke City striker Peter Crouch and are ready to sign him before the end of this month’s transfer window.

The Blues had earlier been linked with West Ham United striker Andy Carroll and Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke.  But the moves for the former especially, after reports intensified in last few days, have cooled off after Carroll pulled off injured. Reports have it that Carroll has been keen on making the move to Stamford Bridge but an ankle injury incurred in training means he will undergo the knife which will rule him out for the next six to eight months.

That means Chelsea will have to look elsewhere and they have turned their focus on Stoke striker Crouch according to the Telegraph. The 37-year old has not been a regular starter for the side at the Britannia Stadium but has been counted on when the going gets tough in games, they need a target man to provide an alternative to goal scoring.

Crouch has scored four goals this season, three of them coming in the top flight.
