Antonio Conte confirms striker all Chelsea fans want will not join

Chelsea’s chase of Edin Dzeko seems finally off after Antonio Conte confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, that the striker will likely ‘continue to be a Roma player’.

The Blues have been in search of a striker the entire winter transfer window, but have been caught in the middle of nowhere almost all the time with links to Peter Crouch, Andy Carroll and finally Dzeko all failing to materialize.

Talks for Dzeko lasted for a longer while and the deal seemed likely at a point. But to the disappointment of Chelsea fans, the Bosnia forward will be staying at Roma with the move all but broken down, although his teammate Emerson Palmieri is very likely to switch for Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte, when asked what the status of the transfer for the former Manchester City striker is, insisted the 32-year old will remain a Giallorossi beyond the transfer window deadline.
