Revealed: When Real Madrid will make Thibaut Courtois decision

Chelsea are bracing themselves for Real Madrid’s swoop for Thibaut Courtois next summer but fresh reports indicate the Spanish giants could decide against the move, as early as January.

The Daily Telegraph points out that Real will make a decision on Courtois in the new year despite securing the deal to sign Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Reports in Spain have it that the Los Blancos have agreed a deal in principle to sign Kepa next year but are still considering the deal to land Kepa from Chelsea. Courtois is yet to agree a new deal with Chelsea, after with less than two years remaining on his current deal at Stamford Bridge.

The Stamford Bridge top hierarchy are keen to tie the Belgian down to a new contract to keep him off Real and other top European clubs’ radar but with nothing firmed up yet in the deal, Chelsea are finding it tough to keep them off.

Real have also been linked with Manchester United’s David De Gea but chose to go for Kepa since a deal for the 23-year old seems much easier. Kepa is now the second choice goalkeeper at the Spanish national team and is become one of the most sought after in the country.

His arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu will signal the end of Courtois’ link with Real.
