Chelsea surprise MK Dons after playing Belgian star in Under 21 competition

Michy Batshuayi has played twice in 24 hours after Chelsea fielded him in an Under 21 competition against MK Dons on Wednesday.

The Blues secured a 4-0 victory of Dons who were taken be surprise by the inclusion of the Belgian star in the Chekatrade Trophy after he featured in the second half for Chelsea against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The English Football League had revamped the competition to allow injury comeback players to play, but that would be to the frustration of the lower sides who play top sides with recovering superstars.

Batshuayi scored his first goal in the first half before nodding home a second from a Kenedy cross in the second half. Charly Musonda also go on the score sheet later in the game.

Chelsea will now progress to the Southern round three after winning the round two fixture at the Stadium MK.

The 24-year old Belgian forward is finding game time in Chelsea’s first team limited with Alvaro Morata favored by Antonio Conte but he will welcome the fitness boost the Chekatrade trophy gave him on Wednesday, as he seeks to return to full fitness.
