Chelsea receive boost to complete Serie A star signing after he refuses new contract

Chelsea will be buoyed by the news that Andrea Belotti has decided to put contract talks on hold with his future uncertain at the club.

The Italian striker was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last summer but the Blues decided on other targets as negotiations with Torino never progressed. Chelsea instead signed Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid for a club record fee of £58 million.

Belloti has an £89 million that deterred interested clubs but with his latest decision to not sign a new deal, the deal could be smoothed for either party.

According to Tuttosport in Italy, Belotti who was scheduled to sign a new deal this year after a move to either AC Milan or Chelsea broke down, is now looking to keep his options open.

He has scored six goals in the Italian top flight this season and is still one of Serie A most prolific goalscorers, if he does arrive at Chelsea, he will be a good option to partner Morata upfront with Antonio Conte preferring a two-pronged attack this season.
