Chelsea make first official bid for winter transfer window target but are rejected

Chelsea are not going to sit around and watch their season get thrown into the gutters and are ready to beef up their squad and compete again on all fronts, at least their latest move shows.

The Blues have reportedly submitted their first bid ahead of the winter transfer window, but have been rebuffed by the selling club. Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen is the said target.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea made an opening bid of £22 million for the attacking midfielder who is setting the Bundesliga alight this season.

At 20 years old, Bailey is considered one of the brightest young players in the German top flight after stellar displays for Leverkusen, scoring five goals and registering four assists in all competitions.

The Jamaica international is primed for the top clubs in Europe after scouts have been dispatched from major top clubs to watch him, and Chelsea were not left out last weekend. He provided two goals for his teammates in a 2-0 win over Stuttgart.
