Antonio Conte is losing Chelsea board’s confidence midway through season

Chelsea’s board are said to be losing faith in Antonio Conte after the Italian coach oversaw a poor start to the season across the major competitions.

The Blues have negotiated a way out of the their group in the UEFA Champions League, after placing second in Group C behind leaders AS Roma, but are facing a giant opposition in the first knockout round, Barcelona. The poor results in the group phase won them the tie against the Spanish giants.

In the Premier League, Chelsea are 14 points off Manchester City, who look like Champions elect in December after a very good run of games, where they have won 14 consecutive games. A look at Chelsea on the league standings prove how Chelsea are finding it tough to discover their title winning form of last season, and the Mirror reports that the top officials at the club are losing confidence in Conte.

Reasons pointed out in the reports include Chelsea’s poor form in the major competitions, Conte’s handling of some senior players this season, as David Luiz has been frozen out of recent starting 11s in games, and the same is true for Willian.

Several reports have linked Conte to the top job at Paris Saint Germain though, and should Chelsea part ways with the former Juventus manager, he could return to management sooner than later.
