Antonio Conte explains why Chelsea summer signings are struggling to make instant impact

Antonio Conte says Chelsea’s new signings have taken a bit longer to make an impact at the club because they began working with his technical team late in the transfer window.

Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater are two of Chelsea’s signings this summer, as well as Davide Zappacosta who came in, in the latter hours of the transfer window.

Their progress in the Chelsea team has been slow with fans blasting the club for not securing stronger players this season. Alvaro Morata was one of the new signings but has been one of the better Chelsea players this season in a far less convincing victory.

The players to have received the most of fans backlash have been Bakayoko and Zappacosta, sparingly following a consistently poor display from the French midfielder.

Goal writer Nizar Kinsella quotes Conte as saying his new signings will come to life with time, after their slow starts to the season.
