“They’ve started off full steam ahead…but we’re not even at Christmas yet” – Cahill warns Man City of the long road ahead in title race

Manchester City have been tipped by many to be the overwhelming favorites for the Premier League title this season, after an exhilarating start to the campaign, but Chelsea captain Gary Cahill believes the Blues still have time on their hands to catch the leaders.

Chelsea trail Manchester City by nine points in the title race this season after 12 games, despite a consistent run of form recently. With both teams winning this weekend, Antonio Conte’s men thrashing West Brom 4-0 at the Hawthorns stadium and Pep Guardiola’s side beating Leicester City 2-0, Chelsea could still not close the gap on the front runners.

Man City have 34 points this season while Chelsea have amassed 245 points, third behind second placed Manchester United who have 26 points.

Cahill believes his side, playing catch up in the title race have ample time to arrest the title favorites tag despite the impressive run by the Citizens.

“They’ve started off full steam ahead and that’s great for them, but we’re not even at Christmas yet, so let’s just hold fire and see how they get on.

They look fantastic at the moment and we have taken a fair bit of criticism at times this season, but we’ve had three clean sheets on the bounce in the league now, it was a great performance and we’ve got a long way still to go.”
