“There are players like Casemiro, Sergio Busquets but he’s better than them” – Chelsea great calls Kante best midfielder in the world

Former Chelsea player Gus Poyet has described N’Golo Kante as the best midfielder in the world comparing him to top players in the Spanish La Liga.

Kante has eased into life in the Premier League, helping Leicester City and Chelsea to title wins in his first two seasons in the country.

His influence on both teams are greatly seen when he is absent from match day squads, as witnessed with Leicester who could not function as a team the moment he departed for Chelsea.

At Chelsea, the Frenchman’s three-week absence this season due to a hamstring injury he picked up while playing for France in a World Cup qualifier, led to the Blues crashing in defeats to AS Roma and Crystal Palace.

According to former Sunderland manager, and Chelsea legend Poyet, Kante has become one of the most important players in the world and can easily unseat any midfielder in any team.

“They missed him a lot, you could see how much the minute he came back. He’s easily the best central midfielder in the world. Easily. He would play in a World XI, no doubt. I know there are players like Casemiro, Sergio Busquets but he’s better than them.

It’s incredible that he went to Leicester and nobody saw him until they won the league! You do what you do, managers do what they do but how didn’t any scouts see him?”

Gus Poyet, Evening Standard

Chelsea will be hoping the return of Kante from injury and star players from international duty, their Premier League title chase will be back up again after losing grounds to Manchester City who comfortably sit top of the standings with 11 points separating them and us.
