Why the Liverpool Chelsea clash could be a surprise 0-0

Chelsea have an interesting tactical dilemma when they face Liverpool tomorrow.

The Blues know that pushing too high up the pitch will open up space for Mo Salah and Sadio Mane to exploit, and they will almost certainly end up sitting deep to counter this, especially with the scores level.

This means the team will be further away from Liverpool’s goal, and the 352 that Antonio Conte has enjoyed playing in recent big games with great success, may struggle to create chances.

It’s one thing to have Eden Hazard playing off Alvaro Morata when the two are at the front of a team playing in the opposition’s half, as against West Brom and Qarabag, but it will be a much tougher ask when they’re sitting deep.

This could end up meaning the game is a little less exciting than some people hope, as the Blues look to pick their moments, unless there’s an early goal really open things up.
