Chelsea to hold talks with Fenerbahce over January move for Blues defender

Chelsea are reportedly going to hold talks with Fenerbahce over a potential January move for Baba Rahman.

According to reports in Turkey, the Turkish Super League side are determined to bolster their squad once the winter transfer window opens following a poor start to the season.

Rahman, who spent last season at Bundesliga side Schalke 04, is yet to make an appearance for the Blues this season following a serious knee injury while away on loan. He returned to Chelsea’s first-team training in September.

Baba Rahman is fighting for some game time under Antonio Conte after returning to action in September.

According to the source Fenerbahce would be keen to sign Rahman on a season-long loan with an option to buy in January 2019. The 23-year-old arrived to Chelsea in the summer of 2015 in a hefty €20m transfer from Augsburg.

Blues boss Antonio Conte, however, is unlikely to let the Ghana international go before aqcuiring a replacement for him. Spanish wing-back Marcos Alonso is currently the only natural left-back at the club, and needs himself a back-up as soon as possible. Brazilian youngster Kenedy has also been rotated at the left wing-back’s role against weaker oppositions, but he’s yet to play a single minute in the Premier League this season.
