Chelsea concerned as talented striker stretchered off with back spasm

Chelsea escaped from this international break relatively unscathed, but it seems the exertions of playing for their countries midweek has taken it’s toll in a slightly delayed fashion this week.

Ruben Lofus-Cheek was able to start and play well for Crystal Palace after being subbed off in the first half for England, and most of the other plays seemed ok.

But Tammy Abraham, who made his first two starts for England, was stretchered off for Swansea in the closing moments of their loss to Burnley, with a back spasm.

It’s better than a torn cruciate, but back problems can become chronic and Blues fans will be hoping their talented on loan striker doesn’t develop any long term problems. Swansea fans, seeing their team sinking towards relegation once again, will be desperate to see their main goal threat stay on the field too.

It’s still much too early to say how bad the issue is, and there’s no indication that he’s likely to miss even the next game, although we may get more news in the coming days.
