Chelsea 4-0 Qarabag – Player Ratings

Chelsea cruised into the Champions League second round with a comfortable win against Qarabag in Baku.

The Blues had the game in their hands early when a home defender was sent off for a foul on Willian in the box, and Eden Hazard made no mistake from the spot.

The second goal was a lovely team effort, ending with Eden Hazard backheel flick to Willian. The Blues added to the lead with the Brazilian winning another penalty, then drilling in the fourth late on from outside the box.

Starting Eleven:

Thibaut Courtois – 7 – Well protected by his back line from open play and showed exceptional use of his height to repeatedly clear corners and crosses into the 6 yard box.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 7 –Great in the middle and then great when switched to left wing back.

David Luiz – 7 – A little quiet in the middle of the back three with not much to worry him. Didn’t look mentally affected by his bad couple of weeks.

Antonio Rudiger – 8 –Totally dominant at the back. Showed off his eye for a long pass too.

Davide Zappacosta  – 7 – Some good progress down the right side, but still no really consistent end product.

N’Golo Kante – 8 – Buzzed around and made sure that the home side  never really threatened. Used the ball efficiently high up the pitch.

Cesc Fabregas – 8 – So much time and space to pick passes, especially with the opposition down to ten. Took his penalty twice, well.

Marcos Alonso – 7 – Worked up and down the left as always. Withdrawn and given a rest after an hour.

Pedro – 7 – Busy and lively without much end product tonight.

Willian – 9 – The key man, showing off all his flicks and tricks, winning two penalties and slamming in the two best goals of the night.

Eden Hazard – 8 – So dangerous without wasting any unnecessary energy. Terrified Qarabag, linked up well with the other forwards and took his penalty well.
