Barcelona want Chelsea’s Brazilian saviour after £100m+ transfer failure

Barcelona are considering a move for Willian if they can’t secure Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, according to a report on Goal.com.

It’s an idea that would have seemed far fetched not too long ago, but there are elements that makes sense now.

Firstly Barca have seen their squad significantly weakened by the departure of Neymar, and the reaching of the point where Andres Iniesta can’t play 90 minutes week in week out.

This lead to a massive effort to sign Coutinho in the summer, but Liverpool held firm, and look like they won’t sell anytime soon.

Willian meanwhile has gone from being in and out of the team to playing only in the second string, with occasional cameos like the one we saw against Liverpool last weekend.

The switch to a 352 has removed the spot previously shared by the Brazilian with Pedro, and he may feel that this is his last chance for a big move as he passes the 30 year mark.
