Antonio Conte to return to Italy’s national team?

Antonio Conte’s future has been one of the biggest talking points recently, and the speculation keeps on coming.

The Italian manager only arrived to Chelsea two summers back, but by leading the Blues to a Premier League trophy on his maiden season of the club, the former Juventus and Azzurri boss won the hearts of the fans immediately.

Conte’s commitment to his Chelsea career has been strongly questioned by the media though. The 47-year-old has expressed his interest on returning to Italy one day, and is yet to extend his contract with the Blues, as his current deal is only valid until the summer 2019.

Before arriving to London, Conte was a success as the head coach of Italy’s national team. Now, with the Italians’ World Cup 2018 qualifying place totally under pressure, he is being missed quite badly.

Italy lost their first leg of the World Cup Qualifying Play-off match against Sweden 1-0, and will need a two-goal win tonight in hope of making their way to Russia next summer.

Italian footballing legend Alessandro Del Piero would like Conte to return to Italy’s national team, as his successor 69-year-old Gian Piero Ventura, hasn’t done his job quite as well as hoped.

“He did great with Juve of course and a great job with the national team, we would love to have him back in Italy, of course, because he is a great coach. He would improve any team and this is what he did with Chelsea last season and what he did with Juve as well.

We had some problems and he fixed it, then won the title. He has some amazing qualities and that’s why he’s coaching the best teams in the world. I hope he will have a great period with Chelsea and then maybe one day come back.
