Update: Chelsea’s injured players and recovery timelines

Chelsea appear wounded ahead of their upcoming Premier League and Champions League games after the international break with a few key players missing through injury.

When news broke about N’Golo Kante suffering an injury in France’s World Cup Qualifier against Bulgaria, Chelsea’s technical team may have been left terrified, especially as the extent of the injury remained unknown.

The Frenchman’s influence in the Chelsea team has been widely documented with superior energy levels in games since he arrived last summer.

Kante is thought to have suffered a muscular thigh injury in France’s game and according to the Metro he will return after the Crystal Palace game. It’s likely his next Chelsea game will come against AS Roma.

The same timelines apply to Alvaro Morata. The striker was on red hot form prior to picking up a grade two tear in the hamstring.

His injury prevented him from joining his Spanish teammates during the international break and is also certainly out of the Premier League champions’ game against Palace. A return against Roma has been mooted after Chelsea’s medical team assessed the 24-year old.

The Daily Star says Chelsea should be positive and could have their top scorer back in their Champions League clash against Roma.

Danny Drinkwater is the only long term injured player on Chelsea’s books. The England midfielder has not featured yet for Chelsea since his arrival from Leicester City last summer.
