“We still have time to come back” – Eden Hazard thinks Chelsea can still win the league

Chelsea are behind Manchester City and Man United in the league table after eight games this season, and more frustratingly they are behind Tottenham Hotspur and Watford as well but Eden Hazard says there’s more time to catch up with the leaders.

We have looked a pale shadow of our former selves when we won the title last season. This season, we have already lost three games of the the first eight, and our current form gives no encouragement that we can retain the title we won so convincingly last season.

Blame it on injuries if you like or fatigue amid talk of Antonio Conte’s tough training sessions, but Hazard would not agree.

The former PFA Player of the Year believes our poor Premier League form is as a result of our participation in the Champions League this season, and insists he and his teammates will adjust to the situation soon.

“I think it’s different this season because we play in the Champions League. Last season, it was easier to play every game every week. We were fresh. Now it’s different, but we need to adapt to the situation. We will give everything, but I think we’re on the same level as last year.

We have just two training sessions to focus on a game. Last year we had a whole week to be ready. So yes it’s a little bit different, but we are professionals and we adapt quickly.”

Hazard was also adamant Chelsea have grounds to cover but time is a commodity they have at the moment with 30 more games to go in the Premier League, despite lying fifth and nine points off Pep Guardiola’s leaders.

We are ready, we know the Premier League is long, so we have time to come back.
