Rumours: Chelsea planning January swoop for PSG ace

Chelsea are looking to bolster their midfield ranks with Paris Saint-Germain ace Javier Pastore, according to Spanish website El Gol Digital.

The source suggests that several clubs have reignited their interest in the Argentinian after hearing that the player would be available for just £26 million.

The Blues and Liverpool have both been monitoring Pastore’s situation over a few transfer windows now, with Inter Milan also emerging as one of the favourites to sign the 28-year-old.

Pastore’s low asking price is explained by PSG’s struggles to obey the notorious FFP regulations. Following their record-breaking £199m capture of Barcelona’s Neymar this summer, the Parisians need to get the books balanced and will have to offload many big players to avoid getting penalized.

Pastore is now one of the players set onto the transfer list.

With Antonio Conte looking to cement a new 3-5-2 formation to his side, it would make sense for Chelsea to look for an attacking midfielder in January. Cesc Fabregas is currently the only one fit for the role, and Pastore – with his Champions League experience – would be a great back-up if not superb.
