Report: Alvaro Morata set for Champions League start against AS Roma

Alvaro Morata could start Chelsea’s Champions League clash with AS Roma on Wednesday according to a report by the Daily Express.

Chelsea have missed his services for almost three weeks, after he picked up a hamstring injury against Manchester City on September 30, at Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year old striker missed Chelsea’s defeat to Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park last Saturday while also sitting out Spain’s World Cup qualifiers during the international break.

News about his recovery and possible start, as per the Express, will delight Blues fans who are desperate for the return of the Spaniard after his replacement Michy Batshuayi failed to convince against Palace last weekend.

Conte revealed on Friday his top scorer this season is in contention after missing several weeks.

The £58million summer signing from Real Madrid has been in impressive form for Chelsea scoring seven goals in the Premier League and Champions League combined this season, while bagging two assists.

Should he start against the Italian giants, Morata will offer Chelsea and Antonio Conte some impetus going forward, with his trademark movement and great positional play.

Chelsea will also hope to maintain their 100% start to the Champions League campaign this season, after recording two victories over Qarabag and Atletico Madrid.

Two wins in the double header with Roma could seal our fate in the knockout round as table toppers from group E, handing us a possible comfortable draw.
