Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar has admitted to be keen on a Premier League return, preferably to Chelsea.
The 26-year-old Brazilian left the club after Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG emerged with a huge £60m transfer offer in January. Despite making a strong start to the season under Antonio Conte in the beginning of 2016/17, Oscar quickly found himself from the bench following the manager’s change in formation.
Oscar states he holds no grudge on the manager or the club, and reveals he’s still a huge fan of the side. With plenty of years still ahead on his playing career, the skilful midfielder doesn’t want to rule anything out – even a dramatic return to Chelsea Football Club.
“The first eight games I played very well, then I had a League Cup game that I left, the team lost and it changed, Then [Antonio Conte] changed the team’s way of playing in a 3-4-3 and I didn’t play anymore, I didn’t have a position to play, because I’m a more offensive midfielder and then it changed a lot. So I decided to leave too, but I left the doors open.
I would go back, yes. I’m still young, I’m still 26 years old. Who knows in two, three years I would return to the Premier League. I would be very happy. And preferably for Chelsea, who opened the doors for me, to return.”

With Conte now looking to change his previous 3-4-3 system to a slightly different 3-5-2 formation, Oscar could have a place for him in the side right behind the two strikers. Currently Cesc Fabregas is playing in the attacking midfielder’s role, creating chances for the forwards with his great passes. Conte really has no other player to fit in that role at the moment, so maybe it’s time to give Oscar a call? January isn’t too far away in the end…
