“Maybe his training?” – Craig Bellamy points to Antonio Conte for Chelsea’s recent injuries

Former Liverpool and Manchester City forward Craig Bellamy has pointed at Antonio Conte for recent injuries at Chelsea, insisting his training methods might be the problem.

The Premier League champions are faltering this season with several of their key players picking up injuries in games.

Tiemoue Bakayoko and David Luiz joined the growing list of injured players during Chelsea’s 3-3 draw with AS Roma last Wednesday, with groin and calf problems respectively.

N’Golo Kante had picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty with France, while Alvaro Morata missed the international break altogether with a hamstring injury he got in our Premier League game against Manchester City on September 30.

Victor Moses had his fair share of the knocks when he was withdrawn in our defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend increasing our personnel in the physio room.

Bellamy blames the injuries on our Italian manager’s training methods.

The team won the league last year and they had no Champions League or Europe so they could just concentrate on the league. But I’m concerned about the injuries they’re getting.

They’ve had a lot of hamstring injuries. A lot of these players play a lot of international football, of course they do. But maybe his training at times? I know he [Conte] likes to do a lot of double sessions.

As well as playing two games a week, it’s very difficult and you’re going to pick up injuries during that period.

Craig Bellamy, Metro

Chelsea are nine points off leaders Manchester City, and as we hope the Citizens drop in form and of course in results as well, we need to start picking up wins in our games.

It may well start from our injuries. Something needs to change to keep our players fit for the entire season,as our squad is generally thin, key players like Kante and Luiz cannot miss several games in key periods.
