(Image): Chelsea return to Premier League’s top four after Gameweek 9

Chelsea have completed their return to the league’s top four standings after leapfrogging Watford in a thrilling 4-2 contest at the Bridge.

The Blues started the gameweek number nine placed fifth in the league, two points behind the Hornets. Thanks to the heroics of Michy Batshuayi and Cesar Azpilicueta, the Blues have reclaimed their position in the Champions League qualification part of the table.

While Chelsea enjoyed a thrilling comeback victory in front of their own fans, Manchester City resumed their unbeaten run in the league with a 3-0 hammering over visitors Burnley. Manchester United on the other hand suffered their first defeat of the campaign, as they got beaten 2-1 by Premier League newboys Huddersfield Town.

London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham were both victorious on Sunday, though. Chelsea’s upcoming EFL Cup opponent Everton lost 5-2 to Arsenal at Goodison Park, while Spurs finally seem to find their form at Wembley Stadium, winning Liverpool 4-1 in the final fixture of the week.

Here’s how the top of the Premier League table looks like after gameweek number nine:

Chelsea will be facing Bournemouth away next weekend, but have a big chance to close in on the top three in two weeks’ time, when the Blues host Jose Mourinho’s United at Stamford Bridge. United will clash with Spurs next Saturday, so whoever the losing party is will be in deep trouble should Chelsea triumph the Cherries.
