Former Chelsea stalwart voted into all time Premier League XI

Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has been voted into the all time Premier League XI of Carrusel Deportivo, Spanish radio’s flagship sport roundup show.

The votes from listeners had already established Edwin Van der Sar in goal and Gary Neville at right back, so it’s good to have a dash of Blue influence in the side already.

Chelsea also have John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho nominated for the central defender slots, so there’s a good chance they’ll get someone else involved in the defence.

Further forward, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba must surely be odds on to make the team, with several others likely to make the shortlist at least.

Ashley Cole made 385 appearances in the Premier League between 1999 and 2014, winning 240 games and losing just 57 in a glorious career with Arsenal and Chelsea. His place in the side is well deserved and he still sets the standard for defensive full backs in any division to this day.
