Drinkwater, Moses and Kante out; two youngsters confirmed to play against Everton in Carabao Cup

Chelsea fans will have the opportunity to see some youngsters in action on Wednesday when the Blues of London take on the Blues of Merseyside, Everton in the English Football League Cup.

Chelsea’s physio room is probably busy right now with several of their top stars out injured or checking up on knocks.

David Luiz and Tiemoue Bakayoko, although starting the game against Watford, were earlier confirmed to have picked up knocks to the calf and groin respectively in our 3-3 draw with AS Roma last Wednesday.

N’Golo Kante and Victor Moses are out for the next few weeks with hamstring injuries, while Danny Drinkwater is recovering from a calf injury. The England international was pictured training at Stamford Bridge last weekend after Chelsea secured a league win over Watford.

While confirming their absence of the trio in our Carabao Cup action against Ronald Koeman’s Everton, Antonio Conte revealed some youngsters may get a chance to impress.

“I think this could be a good opportunity to give a chance to the young player like Charly Musonda, also Kenedy, young players who I think deserve the chance. They are working very hard, they are improving and we can see the improvement against Everton which is a tough game.

It is important for me, important for the club. We will do this. I think for the game against Everton, it is impossible to recover for [Danny] Drinkwater. [Victor] Moses needs more time and so does [N’Golo] Kante.”
