Chelsea and Roma battled to a feisty and entertaining draw at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues took the lead despite Roma’s dominance, and then doubled it soon after through Eden Hazard.

The second half saw Roma continue to dominate, and they got what they deserved with a quickfire double of their own.

However Hazard was the hero once again to rescue a point for Chelsea.

Here are our ratings from today’s featured Chelsea players…

Starting Eleven:

Thibaut Courtois – 7 – A couple of early shots whistled past his goal and he was then tested twice in quick succession in the first half. Saved the second smartly with his foot. Made another smart stop with his leg to divert the ball away from Roma, but could do nothing about their powerfully struck goals.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 5 –Struggled against his man as he was repeatedly isolated by Roma’s attacks in the first half. At fault for Roma’s first goal. Poor start to the season continues.

Gary Cahill – 6 – Did better than some of his defensive colleagues but didn’t exactly exude confidence to his teammates.

Andreas Christensen – 7 – Exposed a little by the midfield early on but never looked troubled. A couple of great moments second half.

Davide Zappacosta – 5 – Caught out defensively and didn’t look too comfortable in possession as the team timidly sat deep. Taken off for Rudiger after giving the ball away right in front of Conte.

David Luiz – 7 – Lost his man twice early and looked like he might be a liability, but then struck a gorgeous goal. Taken off early in the second half after losing Conte’s trust roaming around too much.

Tiemoue Bakayoko – 6 – Looked a little lost without Kante. Too many careless moments and too little personality in the midfield to look for the ball and control the game.

Cesc Fabregas – 6 – Unable to get onto the ball in the game, and Chelsea needed him to help them regain control of the match.

Marcos Alonso – 6 – One or two forays forward but an otherwise quiet.

Alvaro Morata – 7 – Almost his first action was a great move and shot which he hit straight at the keeper. Made up for it as the game wore on, looking frisky with decisive quick movements.

Eden Hazard – 8 – Bubbly and quick from the start. Determined to succeed against the top teams. Good interplay set up Morata’s shot, then had another chance which he screwed wide.
