Blues fans are wrong to say Alvaro Morata has been Chelsea’s best player – Chris Kamara

Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara says Chelsea fans are wrong to call Alvaro Morata their best player of the season.

The Blues’ top scorer has netted six times in the Premier League and once in the Champions League this term, but hasn’t been as valuable for the team as Cesar Azpilicueta, according to Kamara.

The former professional footballer thinks that the Spanish defender has been Chelsea’s player of the season so far, as he has helped the side from all three defensive positions on the pitch.

Chelsea fans might say Morata is their player of the season so far.

I’m going with Azpilicueta.

The reason why I am going with him is because he plays everywhere in the three central defensive positions.

Azpilicueta switched to the left wing-back’s position against Watford when Marcos Alonso was subbed off for Davide Zappacosta. He succeeded in his role brilliantly, getting a chance to score and finding a 87th minute winner to claim the full three points for the Blues.

He plays the right wing-back position, he started the game (against Watford) in the right wing-back position.

But (Marcos) Alonso went off and he ended up on the left wing in that wing-back position.

And he makes this (goal), he gets a bit of luck don’t get me wrong, but the important goals that he’s got already this season himself and the goals that he’s made for Morata, I think he’s an unsung hero.

Morata was subbed off already after an hour of play against Watford, as he got replaced by Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian went on to score twice, putting Morata’s starting place against Bournemouth in jeopardy.
