Bakayoko’s Busquets comparisons on hold for now

There’s an interview with Tiemoue Bakayoko from a year or so ago on French TV where he is asked what kind of player he models himself on.

The midfielder named Sergio Busquets as someone he has looked up to and tried to model himself on. This is a strange answer mainly because to most of us Busquets still seems like a young player, and the idea that he’s now old enough that senior professionals can name him as an influence makes us feel old.

It’s especially strange in Bakayoko’s case because the midfielder is so much more dynamic than the Barcelona man, capable of running with the ball and riding tackles.

He also lacks the incredible innate ability to keep the ball that comes from being raised in La Masia, and performances like yesterday against Watford show that he has a long way to go in several aspects of his game if he wants to be like his idol.
