Wonderkid given professional deal on the same day he’s called up to senior squad

17 year old Ethan Ampadu has put pen to paper on his first senior deal at Chelsea.

Ampadu, whose father is a youth coach at Arsenal, signed for Chelsea in the summer from Exeter City where he made an astonishing breakthrough into the senior squad over the last year.

Since arriving at Chelsea he’s been exceptional in the development squad, and was nominated for the PL2 player of the month award for August – his first month at the club.

Now he’s taken things a step further, and today he is not only old enough to put pen to paper on a senior deal, he has also been called up to Antonio Conte’s squad to face Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.

While it’s still uncertain if young Ethan will make the field, he will at least get the experience of being in the senior team, and it will likely make what would have been a great day for the youngster into a truly special one.
