Take it or leave it – Atletico Madrid make final bid for Chelsea striker

Marca in Spain report Atletico Madrid have launched a final offer for Diego Costa and tell Chelsea to take it or leave it.

The striker has attracted interest from his former side following his feud with Antonio Conte in the summer. The striker revealed a text message he received from Conte, telling him his plans at the club do not include the striker.

Although the transfer window for both England and Spain have closed, Atletico still pursue their target with Marca claiming they have offered £57.25 million for Costa and told Chelsea, it is how far they are willing to go to complete the deal.

Marca says Atletico feel their offer is more than fair for the player not wanted by the club after the public admission by Conte.

The two clubs were said to be deep in negotiations toward the final day of the summer transfer window but a deal could not be struck between the two clubs before the closure of the window.

Atletico are already under a ban by the Court of Arbitration for Sport for breaching transfer rules, and have been ordered not to make signings until January.

Should Chelsea accept the £57.25m fee from Diego Simeone’s side, Costa will not be able to feature for the Spanish giants in all competitive games until the new year.

AC Milan, PSG and Juventus were all linked with Costa in the summer as well as loan moves to Fernabache and Besiktas were all mentioned but never materialized in the summer.

Costa has been Chelsea top scorer in each of the last three seasons scoring 54 goals in the process, 52 of them coming in the Premier League.
