‘I hope Pedro injury is not serious’ – Antonio Conte

Chelsea play a lot better with Pedro in starting line ups than when he’s not and that offers one more reason Antonio Conte hopes the injury he picked up against Arsenal is not a ‘serious’ one.

Pedro picked up an ankle injury last Sunday when he clashed with Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal in the first half and was withdrawn at halftime.

The Spaniard has been an integral part of Chelsea’s setup since the arrival of Conte in the summer of 2016 and has again this season, proven his worth to this Chelsea side.

The 30-year old scored a goal this season in the Champions League opener against Qarabag, making it one goal in four appearances this season. The ratio is not the best at first glance, but compared to his colleagues in the same position this season, one can deduce Pedro is becoming an important cog in Conte’s machine.

Should he miss important games this season, Conte will be the biggest loser, and the Italian manager wants none of it.

Pedro had a knock on his ankle and I hope it’s nothing more serious.

Don’t forget that against Arsenal in pre-season, he broke his face and then he missed many games. I hope he will recover very well for the next (League) game.
