England boss must secure Chelsea prodigy before it’s too late

A wave of rumours swept the Chelsea focused parts of the internet yesterday that Tammy Abraham had chosen to represent Nigeria ahead of England internationally.

The striker has two Nigerian parents, and the rumour was that his father’s friendship with the head of the Nigerian FA along with the persuasive powers of teammates Ola Aina and Victor Moses had convinced Abraham to make the switch.

It didn’t take long for the denials to follow from Tammy’s camp though, and he insists he’s still available for Gareth Southgate to select.

The World Cup next summer will be a big temptation for Tammy, and Southgate could have a lasting stain on his legacy if Tammy ends up changing allegiance because he’s not getting picked for the Three Lions.

Southgate must pick Abraham as soon as possible and make him decide where his future lies, before it’s too late and a potential England star is lost.
