Eden Hazard to make first season start in EFL Cup

Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard is set to make his first start of the season in his side’s EFL Cup game against Nottingham Forest.

The Belgian forward had a knee surgery in the summer, ruling him out of action until after the start of the season.

He returned to action during the first international break, scoring in Belgium’s 9-0 win over Gibraltar in the World Cup Qualifiers.

He has also made cameo appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League and Champions League. Hazard was introduced in Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal last Sunday, prompting Antonio Conte to hint when his side’s best player, arguably, will make his first start of the season.

The last 20 minutes, Hazard played very well.

Now, on Wednesday, he will have the possibility to start the game against Nottingham Forest and complete his recovery. We hope that everything is OK after this game.

Conte has slowly embedded Hazard in his team this season and his 20 minutes against Arsenal on Sunday is a major step up in his rehabilitation from the ankle injury.

Hazard featured prominently in recent Chelsea trophy haul with his contributions of 64 goals since his arrival at Stamford Bridge. He scored 30 goals in Chelsea’s two title triumphs in the 2014/2015 and 2016/2017 seasons.
