The Diego Costa saga has appeared to be reaching its conclusion several time over the last 6 months, but as the January window gets closer a final resolution appears to grow inevitable.
It is in Costa’s interest to leave as soon as possible to regain his match fitness so that he can join the Atleti team the moment their registration ban finishes. It is in Atleti’s interest to get him onboard as soon as possible for the same reasons. And Chelsea, while they have been admirable in refusing to be held to ranson, need him gone so the team can move on.
So it’s no surprise to hear another wave of stories from Spain, this time from the reliable “Cadena Cope” radio station, claiming that Costa will arrive in Madrid on Saturday and the deal will be announced shortly after.
It’s a story we’ve heard plenty of times before in the last few months, but eventually it will turn out to be true.
