Chelsea to miss key defender for next three games

Chelsea center back David Luiz is out for the next three games after seeing red against Arsenal on Sunday.

In what was a dull affair for most of it, the 0-0 drawn game produced some controversial moments all centered around referee Michael Oliver.

Luiz was first booked after an attempted bicycle kick landed in the face of an Arsenal defender in the 18-yard box before his ill-fated incident deep into the game.

Luiz was involved in a feud with Gunners left back Sead Kolasinac late in the game. The Brazilian defender deliberately over-ran the ball near the technical area on the 87th minute minute before lunging into the ankle of Kolasinac to draw a straight red from referee Oliver.

That prompts an automatic three-game suspension for the center back and will miss games against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup, Stoke City and Manchester City in the Premier League.

The last game, crucially will be a huge miss for Antonio Conte and his technical team as they will seek to avoid an embarrassment by Pep Guardiola’s galloping side.
