Chelsea fans can brace themselves to see their deadline day signing from the Italian Serie A, Davide Zappacosta in action this weekend against Leicester City.
The right full back was signed in the 11th hour by Chelsea after missing out on several wing backs in Italy and England. Chelsea had reportedly made bids for Juventus’ Alex Sandro and Tottenham Hotspurs’ Danny Rose but none materialized.
Zappacosta is an unknown name in English football but has the potential to surprise many who doubt. His style suits perfectly with the demands of Antonio Conte who excellently transformed Victor Moses in the role last season.
Having a natural right wing back who he has monitored closely in the Italian top flight, Conte is confident it won’t take long for the player to fly high in England.
Conte on Davide Zappacosta: 'He is in good physical condition. He knows very well which is my style and my idea. It's more simple to adapt.'

Conte says Zappacosta can still improve but has good quality and makes good runs. He says it's important he has the right mentality here.

Zappacosta signed from Torino where he featured mainly as a right wing back before being utilized as a full back. He’s got a good range of crosses within him which would come in handy for Chelsea’s new striker Alvaro Morata.
