Chelsea 6-0 Qarabag – Player Ratings

Chelsea matched their European record with a 6-0 win over Azeri side Qarabag at Stamford Bridge.

It’s hard to rate the Blues in a game which was so easy for them, but suffice to say that they all did very well against very poor opposition.

Here are our ratings from today’s featured Chelsea players…

Starting Eleven:

Thibaut Courtois – 7 – Had nothing to do and may have wondered, as he stood in the rain, why Willy Caballero wasn’t given a chance in a rotated team.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 7 – Defensively perfect and then stepped up to net the third with a powerful header.

Andreas Christensen – 7 – Looked totally comfortable from the very start and earned several rounds of applause for his classy defending.

Gary Cahill – 7 – Was booked for a fairly wild lunge that was totally unnecessary in this game and considering he was just a few minutes into a return from a three match ban. Not troubled much after that.

Marcos Alonso – 7 – Had the Blues two first chances and took full advantage of Qarabag’s defensive setup, constantly hitting the byline down the left.

Davide Zappacosta – 8 – Busy and bright and constantly looking forward. Executed a lovely nutmeg in the first half, then followed that with the Blues’ second goal.

Cesc Fabregas – 8 – One of his easiest nights at the club, spraying the ball around with ease. Set up the third with a gorgeous outside of the foot pass.

Willian – 8 – Multiple electric moments where opposition defenders just couldn’t get near him.

Pedro – 7 – Made two early defensive mistakes and then immediately made up for them by slamming home the opening goal.

N’Golo Kante – 8 – Showed off his increasingly impressive range of passing in a game where he had almost no pressure on him in the middle.

Michy Batshuayi – 7 – Was almost too eager to score and slapped one into the side netting early on. Some lovely touches in the interplay and passing in the buildup. Finally got his goal in the second half.
