Chelsea 5-1 Nottingham Forest- Player Ratings

Chelsea cruised to a home win in the League Cup against a totally outclassed Nottingham Forest side.

Here are our ratings from today’s featured Chelsea players…

Starting Eleven:

Willy Caballero – 7 – Made the first save of the game but was untroubled after that until the very last kick of the game squeaked past him.

Antonio Rudiger- 8 – Assisted the first goal with a lovely cross and went on to play several superb long passes as the game progressed.

Gary Cahill – 7 – Little to do but ensured the Blues were safe from crosses and set pieces.

Andreas Christensen – 8 – Flawless in place of David Luiz, looking perfect on and off the ball. Only fails to get a 10 because there was so little defending to do against a Forest side who struggled to get out of their half.

Davide Zappacosta – 7 – As in his debut against Qarabag the Italian looked to get forward at every opportunity. Eventually replaced by another youngster, Dujon Sterling.

Kenedy – 7 – Looked shaky for the first few minutes then belted a lovely goal in to start the scoring. Ended it too, when he slammed a ball off the bar

Tiemoue Bakayoko – 7 – Titanic in midfield, the Frenchman essentially prevented Forest crossing the halfway line for the majority of the game.

Cesc Fabregas – 9 – Had an incredibly easy game but loved his chance to just spray the ball around with impunity. Played countless beautiful balls over the top and round the side, and was then retired with 35 minutes to go for debutant Ethan Ampadu.

Eden Hazard – 8 – Involved from the very start, the Belgian was on sparkling form, pulling all kinds of tricks and flicks and assisting Michy’s second goal with a lovely turn and pass. Faded gradually as his lack of match fitness began to show, but had already done enough.

Charly Musonda- 7 – Shone with a few bright, early touches and then scored in an emotional moment as he lashed home Fabregas’ pass. Could have had a second as he lifted a chip just wide of the Forest goal.

Michy Batshuayi – 7 – Worked incredibly hard as he always does in his occasional appearances. Netted a hatrick, although the second couldn’t really have been easier and the third was unintentional.
