Chelsea are “optimistic” that Eden Hazard will commit his future to the club and sign a massive new deal.
The word from Matt Law, who covers the Blues for the Telegraph, is that Hazard is finally ready to put pen to paper on a new contract to tie him to the club for years to come.
Hazard’s only doubt have been about the club’s ability to win the Champions League, but the progress made in the last year under Antonio Conte has clearly been enough to convince the Belgian – who is apparently happy and settled in London – that this is the club to be at to win big trophies and individual prizes like the Ballon d’Or. Games like tomorrow night’s clash with Atletico Madrid will be vital in proving that the Blues are back at the top table of European football and ready to compete.
The arrival of Kylian Hazard at the club this summer was clearly a gift to persuade the 26 year old that he is in the right place, and it looks like it may prove to be a smart move, as it appears to have tipped the scales in their favour.
The Telegraph give no time-scale on when the deal might be completed, but it certainly looks to be closer than ever.
